- 1/2 lb ground bison or duck breast
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (sub with coconut aminos for gluten free/ paleo)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 package shitake mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small yellow onion, sliced thin
- 1 avocado
- Daves Killer or any whole grain burger bun
DIRECTIONS
- Place all the ingredients, except the oil, in a bowl and stir them together to combine.
- Form the ground meat mixture into 2 even sized patties, making a thumb print in the middle of each patty.
- Place a frying pan on the stove on medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp oil, cook the burgers for 3-5 minutes per side, until cooked through.
- Remove patties. Add the other tbsp oil to the pan. Sauté the chopped onions for 2 minutes, then add the mushrooms and sauté for another 3 to 5 minutes.
- Top burger patty and sautéed mushrooms and onion on a burger bun and enjoy
